Santoku knives are often recommended as a multi-purpose kitchen knife for home cooks and are the most commonly found knife in Japanese households. Unique to Santoku knives are the thinner, yet harder steel to allow chefs to perform intricate preparations and also handle slicing fish, meat and other produce.
